The Welcome Home initiative is a program that will provides start-up assistance for individuals transitioning into housing after experiencing homelessness or unstable housing situations.
Essential items are provided, (food and basic pantry items, cleaning supplies, furniture including a bed and other household items) to help establish a new household.
By assisting with food insecurity and providing strategic access to practical resources and a network of community supports, Welcome Home removes practical barriers which enable participants to better position themselves to deal with other root issues.
Welcome Home will ensure a safe and secure quality of life from the start of a new household so participants will not struggle with added financial strain of these start-up costs.
Welcome Home can provide assistance with various life-skills, community navigation and other wrap- around supports as needed and will provide appropriate follow-up.
Welcome Home can also provide a direct link to The Salvation Army’s Pathway of Hope, which provides intensive care for individuals and families who desire to change their life’s direction and increase stability by achieving short and long term goals with a network of support.
It is our desire that Welcome Home will:
- empower, promote dignity and increase hope for the participant/individual
- increase stability and the likelihood (percentage) of people remaining in safe affordable, secure housing.
- arm people with tools, life skills to promote self-sufficiency and encourage growth and autonomy
Program is referral based from the H.A.R.T. – Housing Access Review Team
